It’s about time to make a second game now. I’ve been working on Life Not Supported since 2020, and well, rent needs paying so it’s either a new game or go do something ‘proper’, pah!
The aim was always to make survival games as the main ~brand~ of yetibytes but I need to make something fast – like I don’t have 3+ years to make the next survival game (which has already been planned out and will be very cool). So the next game will be a roguelike, yay!

Making a cool ass roguelike
This roguelike is gunna be a pinball roguelike, in the vain of peglin and more recent number-go-big-gravity-based-roguelikes like ballionaire, nubby’s etc. The player will be a dwarf that not-so-secretly wants to be a pirate. You’ll progress through the underground fighting monsters, gaining balls/relics, and finding some interesting characters along the way.

Mechanically, the gameplay is split into two parts: The pinball and the fighting. (See below for rough drafts of both)

So you score points in the pinball side of the game which converts into the damage you do in this bubble breaker-esque battle mode.
All-in-all, for two weeks work I think the vibe is coming together very well. Most of the mechanics are in, and there’ll soon be a steam page. I’m very much enjoying exploring what DWARRF is going to be, hopefully other people will enjoy it too.
Worst case it’s an excuse to use the domain I’ve been paying for for 6-7 years already? oops.
